Ninestar Strengthens ESG Integration with Renewable Energy Growth, Sustainable Products and Enhanced Governance Oversight
Ninestar’s 2025 ESG Report highlights its transition toward integrated sustainability management, featuring renewable energy expansion, green product innovation, responsible supply chain practices, and strengthened ESG governance aligned with evolving stakeholder expectations.
Ninestar Corporation has released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, marking the fifth ESG report published by the company. The report covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2025 and discloses Ninestar’s ESG management philosophy, policies, improvement actions, and sustainability performance. The report was prepared with reference to multiple sustainability disclosure frameworks, including the GRI Sustainability Reporting Standards, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange Sustainability Report Guidelines, IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures, and China’s Sustainability Disclosure Standards for Business Enterprises No.1 – Climate (Trial).
As a global technology manufacturer operating across laser printers, integrated circuit chips, and printer-related components, Ninestar’s ESG disclosures provide insight into how a manufacturing-focused technology company is integrating sustainability considerations into product innovation, supply chain management, operational efficiency, and corporate governance. The report is particularly relevant as manufacturers face increasing expectations from investors, customers, regulators, and global supply chains regarding climate transition, responsible sourcing, product responsibility, and ESG data transparency.
Key Sustainability Themes and Disclosures
Ninestar’s 2025 ESG strategy is centred around the vision of “Printing a Greener Future”, supported by three strategic directions: Responsible Intelligent Manufacturing, Green Reinvention, and Value Creation. The company indicates that sustainability considerations are being integrated across product development, manufacturing operations, and stakeholder management. This approach suggests a shift from viewing ESG primarily as a reporting exercise toward positioning sustainability as part of operational and strategic planning.
On climate and environmental management, Ninestar highlights clean technology, renewable energy adoption, green product development, and circular economy initiatives as key priorities. The company reported that clean technology products generated RMB 7.592 billion in sales revenue, representing 46% of total sales. It also disclosed that self-consumed photovoltaic power generation reached 13,905,980 kWh in 2025, representing a 109% increase compared with 2024, while additional photovoltaic electricity was supplied to the grid and supported by green certificate acquisition. These disclosures indicate that renewable energy expansion and green product offerings are becoming increasingly connected with the company’s business development strategy.
The company also continued to strengthen environmental management systems, with eight entities obtaining ISO 14001 environmental management system certification. In addition, Ninestar disclosed significant progress in environmental product certification, with 16,281 product models receiving domestic environmental certifications and 828 models obtaining internationally recognised certifications such as EPEAT, Blue Angel, Nordic Swan Ecolabel, and Energy Star. For a global printing technology company, these product-level environmental credentials may support customer sustainability requirements and strengthen competitiveness in markets where procurement decisions increasingly consider lifecycle impacts.
Circular economy and responsible resource management are also prominent themes. The report identifies electronic waste recycling, green products, waste management, energy management, water resources management, climate change response, and biodiversity conservation among its key environmental topics. The inclusion of electronic waste recycling as a material topic reflects the growing importance of end-of-life product management in the electronics sector, although stakeholders may continue to monitor how Ninestar expands quantitative disclosures on recycling volumes, lifecycle impacts, and long-term circularity targets.
From a climate disclosure perspective, Ninestar has introduced double materiality assessment into its ESG management process, evaluating both the external impacts of ESG issues and their potential financial implications for the company. The company also assessed climate-related risks, including potential impacts from extreme weather events and green transition policies, while identifying opportunities related to low-carbon transformation and operational resilience.
On the social side, Ninestar’s disclosures demonstrate a focus on workforce development, occupational health and safety, responsible products, supply chain responsibility, and information security. The company reported that ten entities obtained ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system certification, while no product recalls due to safety or health concerns were recorded during the reporting period. These indicators suggest continued emphasis on manufacturing safety controls and product reliability.
Human capital development remains an important part of Ninestar’s sustainability approach. The company states that it continues to improve talent development systems, upgrade digital learning platforms, and provide training opportunities to support employee growth. In addition, Ninestar highlights efforts to build an inclusive workplace and protect employee rights, indicating that workforce capability and employee engagement are viewed as supporting factors for long-term innovation.
Supply chain responsibility is another notable area. Ninestar disclosed that 672 suppliers had signed commitments regarding the non-use of conflict minerals, with 482 suppliers completing related training. Given the global nature of electronics supply chains, these initiatives may help strengthen supplier governance and address potential human rights and responsible sourcing risks.
Governance and Strategic Signals
Governance represents one of the strongest themes within Ninestar’s 2025 ESG disclosure. The company has established a board-led ESG governance structure consisting of the Board of Directors, ESG Committee, and ESG Working Group. The Board oversees ESG strategic direction and reviews sustainability-related risks and opportunities, while the ESG Committee is responsible for sustainability goals and development plans.
The company also strengthened board diversity and governance independence in 2025. Ninestar disclosed the appointment of one additional female director and the separation of the president role from the Board of Directors, which it indicates was intended to strengthen governance effectiveness and oversight. These governance developments suggest a continued alignment with evolving expectations around board structure, accountability, and sustainability oversight.
Business ethics and compliance remain key governance priorities. Ninestar reports strengthened anti-corruption risk management and improved anonymous reporting mechanisms to promote integrity. The company’s approach indicates an effort to embed ESG considerations into broader risk management rather than treating sustainability as a standalone function.
The company’s ESG governance maturity is also reflected in its external recognition. Ninestar disclosed that its MSCI ESG rating was upgraded from A to AA in 2025. While external ratings vary by methodology, the upgrade may indicate that improvements in ESG governance, disclosure practices, and sustainability management are increasingly recognised by capital market stakeholders.
What This Report Suggests About Future Direction
Ninestar’s 2025 ESG Report suggests a continued direction toward integrating sustainability into technology innovation, manufacturing efficiency, and global supply chain management. The company’s emphasis on green products, renewable energy, responsible manufacturing, and circular economy initiatives indicates that sustainability may increasingly become linked with product competitiveness and customer expectations.
Going forward, stakeholders may continue to monitor how Ninestar develops measurable climate targets, expands Scope 3 emissions management, and strengthens quantitative disclosures related to lifecycle impacts and supply chain emissions. As global sustainability requirements become more focused on value-chain transparency, deeper supplier engagement and product carbon management may become increasingly important areas of development.
The company’s adoption of double materiality assessment and alignment with ISSB-related climate disclosure principles also suggests a potential pathway toward more financially connected sustainability reporting. Future disclosures may provide further insight into how ESG risks and opportunities influence investment decisions, operational planning, and long-term business resilience.
Pacifica ESG View
Ninestar’s 2025 ESG Report reflects a company moving toward a more structured ESG management model, with stronger governance mechanisms, clearer strategic priorities, and increasing integration of sustainability into manufacturing and product development. The most significant signals are the expansion of renewable energy, green product initiatives, responsible supply chain management, and board-level ESG oversight. Going forward, stakeholders should monitor the company’s progress on quantitative climate targets, Scope 3 management, and measurable circular economy outcomes as ESG expectations continue to evolve.
